In 2001, strategic planning and goals setting for IMMN was drafted by support and cooperation of Deputy of Research and Technology, Ministry of Health and Medical Education; Management and Planning Organization of Iran (MPO) and consultants and representatives from the Member Research Centers of IMMN.
Supervision on Performance of the research Proposals
All proposals, upon receiving will be reviewed by the secretariat's office and then two referees are appointed by the Training and Educational Council. Each proposal is then given to the designated referees. Their comments and suggestions are reviewed by the secretariat and then is given to the TEC for final approval. Those proposals approved will be supported by the IMMI. In each case any proposal should be accompanied by a letter from the director of research form the university or the institute in which the proposal has come from.
All approved research proposals are annually overseen by two referees. The Project Executives deliver the approved proposals to the IMMN Secretariat where they are conveyed to the supervisors.
The Establishment of DNA Banks
Most members institutes in the network are dealing with human subjects which are important as research tools and their biological materials may be valuable materials for further research. The member institutes decided to support establishment of DNA repositories in each institute hoping this will become a general practice in every research center to bank their DNA. Some of the important DNA Banks which are supported by the IMMM are as follows:
Providing Publicity Materials
Advertising materials such as bulletins, pamphlets, posters, brochures, etc have been prepared and distributed by the IMMN on different occasions in the past years.
